Our Elektra Bella Epoque Espresso Machine
At Warwick we're regularly asked about our magnificent Elektra Bella Époque Espresso Machine, which forms the center piece to our bar and is a familiar feature of all Caffé Vergnano 1882 espresso bars in the UK. Our bar was purposely built and designed around this splendid piece of Bella Époque design, which further acknowledges early twentieth century coffee bars, as this is how most espresso machines originally appeared, with a vertical gravity fed column shape.
Our two group model, using modern engineering, faithfully reproduces this era, complete with Bakelite handles and knobs. With its small footprint, the design still serves the practical advantage of not taking up too much space while also allowing customers to openly experience the flow of their espresso.
Elektra
The origins of the manufacturer, Elektra, begin in 1947 with a Mr Fregnan who founded the company (originally known as La Tarvisium Elektra), in Treviso.
Bella Époque
Bella Époque (French for Beautiful Era) is a retrospective label applied to a design movement of shared influences lasting from the late 19th century until the First World War, and is similar in concept to Art deco.
The Eagle
The eagle adorning the top of our machine was a popular icon for espresso machine manufactures during the early decades of the nineteen hundreds, but others would utilize their own symbols. Lions, stylized women lifting the globe, and numerous ornate shapes were also common.
