The Maragogype coffee bean
There is no finer coffee bean than the highly prized Nicaragua Maragogype. Within the 1882 Espresso bar blend, this extraordinarily large coffee bean proudly contributes to establishing the blend's unmistakable premium status.
Richer, because the cherries grow at the top of each plant where exposure to the sun is greater and where they ripen to perfection. Carefully selected, because the red cherries of the Nicaragua Maragogype are individually picked by hand and then dried in the open air before being packed into sacks while still at the plantation. (Crucial for quality control).
This truly distinctive blend is placed prominently at the front of the bar next to our espresso machine. This blend is at the very heart of the venue.

Did you know:
The longer coffee beans are roasted the less they weigh, but a slower — and therefore longer — roasting cycle is absolutely crucial to fully awaken the dark, subtle and complex flavours of quality coffee. This means the Vergnano slower roasting requires more beans to achieve the same weight, gram for gram, when compared with many faster roasted and inferior alternatives while also successfully avoiding a bitter burnt aftertaste.
The Miscela Bar Blends
The Vergnano family have been roasting coffee in Italy since 1882 and their coffee has long been established as truly exceptional. The core bar blend was originally developed to celebrate one hundred and twenty years of tradition with the slow roasting of six of the worlds finest coffee varieties — including a balanced union between the two key varieties of coffee bean. The Warwick bar proudly embraces this renowned, bold, full bodied and ‘chocolaty’ smooth coffee blend as the foundation for all of its coffees.

A blend offering prolonged satisfaction by investing extra time within the roasting process and blending 10% of the highest quality Robusta beans with premium and distinctive Arabica beans to create a self–assured, yet smooth, and more intense pedigree. This combination also produces a thicker and creamier basic espresso with a distinctive reddish crema and helps avoid a thin and wispy yellow surface to your espresso shot.
Two blends to choose from
To underpin the bar's status as the regions premier coffee venue, Warwick compliments the celebrated Miscela 1882 Espresso bar blend with the Espresso 1882 STRONG variety. While still avoiding any acidic aftertaste, this darker blend offers those who might prefer a bolder and more intense experience an alternative and decisive option and provides all patrons the choice for differing moods and times of day.
Of our many visitors who usually need to take their coffee with sugar, they're pleasantly surprised to report that they can, and prefer to, drink our coffees without? (That's because there's no acidic aftertaste).
Many of our customers, after having tried our coffee blend, have real trouble drinking coffee from anywhere else. Seriously.
“I regularly sample coffees from bars, shops and restaurants from around the UK, and while I'm grateful that many coffees are now achieving a descent standard and often don't harbour the weaker elements — such as being overly acidic or too bitter — most are quite simply characterless? There's very rarely a personality to most ‘quality’ coffee blends and they can be instantly forgettable?
The chocolaty smooth Miscela 1882 Espresso blend is a truly exceptional coffee because it also manages to be distinctive and memorable, with its confident range of balanced flavours.”
Darren, of the Warwick CV 1882 bar.
